Ein authentischer Retro-Sound und Soul der alten Schule ist die Spezialität von Daptone Records. Das Label aus Brooklyn, New York beheimatet u.a. Sharon Jones (Video) mit ihrer Band Dap-Kings (die auch schon auf Amy Winehouse’ Album Back to Black zu hören war), Charles Bradley (The Message-Artikel), Menahan Street Band (Video) und The Budos Band (Video). Zum zehnjährigen Jubiläum gibt es einen Einblick in das House of Soul und Erzählungen von den Anfängen des Labels.
